Carmelo Anthony may not be on an NBA roster (yet), but it doesn’t mean he can’t have a little fun this summer.

This week, the 10x NBA All-Star was captured at an event in Harlem, where he apparently enjoyed the company of a very young fellow hooper. Check it out:

THIS moment is everything!!! Carmelo Anthony pulled up to the City is Mine Tournament in Harlem tonight & made this young fan’s whole summer! That’s LOVE!

For the uninitiated, Carmelo Anthony has always been a servant of the community. With countless projects and investments designed to help improve the lives of everyday people, it’s really no surprise at all that, even after playing his 19th NBA season, he has time to engage and hang with some New York City locals.

On the court, Anthony is far from the player Knicks fans spent years watching, but he can still be a valuable and productive part of any roster. Of course, both New York teams have already reportedly shown some interest.

“They’re considering it, a lot of teams are. He shot the ball well and he is a minimum (contract) guy. Every team is going to talk about him ahead of free agency,” an Eastern Conference executive told Sean Deveney. “If Melo doesn’t sign with the Knicks, he could still be coming back to New York. However, this time Anthony would find himself playing for his hometown Brooklyn Nets.”

The situation in Brooklyn is pretty chaotic at the moment, so it’s hard to say if they are even in the cards for Melo. But a return to the Garden could be in the works as well if Anthony feels like going home.

Regardless, he has made it clear that New York will always be a home to him and it’s good to see that hasn’t lost touch with his roots.
