Clyde Drexler Says 10 NBA Players Should Be In The GOAT Conversation

2 Min Read

The GOAT debate is hotter than ever now, but some people are getting tired of the same conversation taking place over and over again. The NBA hiatus has fueled the debate, more so after ESPN released the Chicago Bulls’ documentary ‘The Last Dance’. NBA fans have been making the case for either LeBron James or Michael Jordan, but others believe there are more options for the GOAT title.

First Isiah Thomas named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the greatest of all time, and now another legend, Clyde Drexler, has stated that more players other than LeBron and Michael Jordan should be part of the never-ending GOAT conversation.

“I really have a problem with that. Because out of all the guys that played the game, you’re only having a conversation with these two guys as the GOAT,” Drexler said in an interview on The A-Team, a Houston-area sports podcast.

“When you got Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, two of the greatest players who ever lived, I think you should start with those two. You got guys like Larry Bird, Dr. J, George Gervin, Elgin Baylor, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West all of those guys are in the conversation. I love both Michael and LeBron but let’s not take something away from the other guys who played.”

He named some great players there, some of the best this game has seen, but when you talk about the best of the best, it’ll be hard to find someone who doesn’t think the debate is between LeBron, MJ or even Kobe Bryant.

There is something about those names that make fans go crazy. Those players left a mark in the game and it’s hard to see how somebody can make a bigger impact on the game of basketball right now. All the Birds, Dr. Js, Kareems, and Chamberlains deserve honor, but truth to be told, Jordan and LeBron are the top of the top for plenty of people.
