Damian Lillard has big expectations for two young players for the next season. The Portland Trail Blazers superstar took his game to the next level this year in the bubble and now he expects two other players to do the same next season. Somebody asked Lillard who he believes is going to have a breakout season in 2021 and he named two stars who might look good one day and completely different the next one.
"Ima go with Caris Levert or Lonzo Ball," Lillard replied.
Lonzo Ball seemed to be reaching a good level before the NBA suspension. His association with Lonzo Ball was catching more and more attention but they couldn't keep up in the bubble. Ball couldn't match his prior form and the Pelicans failed to reach the postseason. In 45 games, he averaged 12.7 points, 7.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds and shot 39.2% from three-point range.
On the other hand, Caris LeVert was a good surprise for the Brooklyn Nets, becoming one of their primary offensive weapons in the absence of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Spencer Dinwiddie. LeVert averaged 18.7 points, 4.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game with Brooklyn. Out of these two, you could think LeVert has the most chances to make a leap the next season, but Lonzo has reasons to get better, as well.
He's been doubted ever since he made it to the league with the Lakers and now he's ready to demonstrate he can be a star in this league. Lonzo even replied to Lillard, appreciating the support.
Only time will tell if any of these guys take their game to the next level, or both, or neither.
