31-year-old DeMar DeRozan said goodbye to the Raptors in 2018, thanks to the Kawhi Leonard deal that changed the course of NBA history.

While DeRozan did not make much noise during his time in San Antonio, his game grew and adapted under the direction of Gregg Popovich. He also enjoyed years of competitive play, even if the Spurs never really went very far.

Now on the move once again, DeRozan issued another goodbye message, this time to the Spurs.

Here’s what he said:

I want to take the time to thank the Spurs organization and the fans in San Antonio for embracing me the way that they have over the past 3 seasons. The Spurs lived up to their reputation as one of the classiest organizations in the league during my time with the team.

I’m grateful for the times I shared with my teammates, our coaches and staff. THANK YOU!

Besides Kawhi Leonard, you’d be hard-pressed to find a player with anything bad to say about the Spurs, which really speaks volumes about the way their franchise is run

As for DeRozan, he’ll get the chance to start fresh in Chicago. Alongside Lonzo Ball, Zach Lavine, and Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls have become a force in the East, and seem to have a lower-seeded playoff team at worst.

Lasts season, DeMar averaged 20.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game on 49.5% shooting. It will be interesting what he’s able to do with his new team.
