New York has been home to some of the biggest moves in free agency this season. The Brooklyn Nets are rumored to trade their two stars, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Meanwhile, the New York Knicks signed Jalen Brunson from the Dallas Mavericks in a controversial signing and are looking to make their team even better through trade.
The Knicks are one of the reported frontrunners to bring Donovan Mitchell onto their squad and out of the Utah Jazz. The Jazz already moved Rudy Gobert earlier this offseason and are now looking to rebuild from scratch by moving the All-Star guard in Mitchell.
Mitchell is a New Yorker and could be excited to be back in his home and playing for a competent Knicks team. He was at the game between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets. Another person at the game? New Knicks’ signing Jalen Brunson.

Brunson and Mitchell weren’t spotted together at any point during the game, so it is tough to say that there would have been any conversation between the 2 players. Mitchell is a New Yorker, so his interest in this massive baseball game between the NY teams is understandable.
Even if Mitchell hasn’t told the Jazz that his preference would be to get traded to New York, it could be something he is well aware of. At this point in his career, Spida is looking to play good basketball and compete. If New York is the place he can do that, it’s the ideal situation.
Many other teams are monitoring Mitchell’s trade status, so he could likely be moved somewhere else. The Jazz hold the cards in this situation and will send Mitchell to whichever team offers them the best package. Hopefully, that package could come from the Knicks and bring Spida-man to New York.
