The Minnesota Timberwolves made the biggest splash in the offseason so far, trading a king’s ransom of picks and players to the Utah Jazz for Rudy Gobert. With a young core of Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell already making some noise last season, the addition of Gobert has made the Wolves a really dangerous team moving forward.

And the players know this, too, with Towns recently talking about how the team has aspirations of finally making a play for the NBA championship. The Timberwolves have never really been contenders for a sustained period in their history, but they now have the personnel and star-power at their disposal to give it a shot.

Not everyone seems to think so, though, and Draymond Green, who knows a thing or two about winning titles, reacted with a string of laughing emojis to KAT’s quotes on an Instagram post.

Gobert is a player who has been disrespected at times across the league, and this is likely another example of it. There’s also the fact that Minnesota hasn’t been able to get past the first round during Karl-Anthony Towns’ stint with the team. Additional context is also important. Green is known around the league for his trash talk and speaking his mind, however controversial it may be.

It’s true that the Wolves still don’t have a transcendental star to take them to the very next level, but they now have 4 players that are capable of performing at an All-Star level. And Anthony Edwards could still make the leap to superstardom next season, which would be another arrow in their quiver.

The Western Conference has always been stacked, and there are no guarantees when it comes to post-season success. Whether Green will be proven right or not is entirely up to the Timberwolves roster and coaching staff, the front office has already done everything that they can.
