Over the past year, Enes Kanter Freedom has become one of the loudest advocates for human rights. In his ongoing battle against the Chinese regime and the companies/figures who stay silent to support their own wallets, Enes has spoken out on all different mediums in all different types of ways.

He even went after LeBron James on a number of occasions.

“I don’t know if he’s educated enough, but I’m here to educate him and I’m here to help him, because it’s not about money,” Freedom said of James. “It’s about morals, principles and values. It’s about what you stand for. There are way bigger things than money. If LeBron stopped making money now, his grandkids and grandkids and grandkids can have the best life ever. I feel like it’s definitely time for athletes to stand up for the things they believe in — not just in America — but all over the world.”

Apparently, not all players are against what he has been doing. As Kanter recently revealed, one of James’ Lakers teammates gave his movement a rather glowing endorsement.

“Dude, keep doing what you’re doing. What you’re doing is right. Don’t give up. I have so much things that I want to say, but I cannot because these teams got us. If you want another contract, if you want more endorsement deals, if you want other companies to work with you, you have to keep your mouth shut. You cannot criticize the league, the companies, Nike, or whoever.”

According to the nameless individual, players aren’t supposed to criticize the league or the big companies involved with the league. That explains why we don’t see many of them be very critical of the status quo.

No matter your opinion on Freedom’s movement, it is commendable that he’s willing to put himself out there and risk it all for the sake of spreading his message.

Let’s see if others follow in his footsteps.
