The NBA has a long history of amazing players gracing the court with their talents. Making it to the league is not an easy task by any means. You need a lot of skill and great genes to succeed in the NBA.

As a result, we often see players from a single-family playing in the league. Be it father-son duos or brothers, we have seen a lot of players from the same family play in the NBA.

Now, playing in the NBA is one thing, but winning the title is another. It is quite rare to see father and son duos win championships in their respective careers. But there have been four father-son duos who have achieved this feat. The list includes Matt Guokas Sr. and Matt Guokas Jr., Rick Barry and Brent Barry, Bill Walton and Luke Walton, Mychal Thompson, and Klay Thompson.

Now, there is another potential father-son duo that can be added to this list. As pointed out by redditor u/IMovedYourCheese in their recent post, Gary Payton and Gary Payton II can become the latest addition to this list.

Payton won his NBA ring during the second last season of his career when he was a part of the Miami Heat. Yes, we are talking about the Heat’s 2006 championship run when Payton was part of the team led by Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal.

As for his son, GPII, he is currently a part of the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have qualified for the NBA Finals after an absence of two seasons. With the Dubs at their full strength, they have a huge chance of winning this year’s ring.

If that turns out to be the case, GPII will also be awarded a ring for his contribution to the Warriors in their quest to win the 2022 NBA Championship.
