Giannis Antetokounmpo can finally celebrate with the people of Milwaukee. The player who chose to stay with the team that took a chance on him has delivered. Both Milwaukee and Giannis can finally be jubilant, as they are now NBA champions. Antetokounmpo did everything in his power, and overcome all adversity in order to bring the ‘Cream City’ their first NBA championship in 50 years. Not since the days of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has the city of Milwaukee had a star that they could call one of the greatest. But it appears Giannis is ready to leave the franchise now, or at least joke about that.

While interacting with the press, Antetokounmp came armed with jokes and a celebratory mood. One of the reporters asked Giannis how he felt after his promise to the city of Milwaukee. Earlier in the season, Giannis signed a contract extension with the Bucks and said that he wanted to win a championship with the Bucks rather than form a super-team somewhere else. Giannis said that he wouldn’t leave Milwaukee until he fulfilled that goal. Upon hearing that, Giannis jokingly remarked that he did his job and that he wanted a trade, before chuckling out loud.

“I’m out now! Can I leave now? I want a trade (laughs)”

As much as Giannis jokes about fulfilling his promise. There is little chance he leaves the franchise anytime soon. The Bucks have built a really strong team with Giannis at the core of it. So he has no reason to leave and go anywhere else. And at this point in his career, no player in the NBA could ever complete a package that the Bucks would accept to let Giannis go. For now, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will celebrate their championship. But as they get closer to the new season, they will begin preparations for their next title run.
