The NBA has a lot of exciting dunks happen over the course of a season. While regular-season dunks can certainly provide entertainment, dunks that happen during heated playoff games are the ones that are immortalized forever.
During the 2021 NBA playoffs, Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins dunked on Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, in a series that the Atlanta Hawks eventually won in 7 games.

It is clear that this dunk was spectacular for many reasons, and it must have felt amazing for John Collins to finish that on one of the best rim protectors in the league. In fact, when asked about the dunk by JJ Redick, Collins claimed that that dunk was the “most meaningful two points” he has ever scored. He also commented on trolling Joel Embiid by wearing a shirt of the dunk later on.

It’s probably one on Joel in the playoffs. We were talking a lot, it was a little build up on that one. Probably my most meaningful two points on anybody in the heart of the playoffs.
Shoutout to Scottie C… he’s our team photographer. What happened is, I was walking into the arena, and he texted me and was like “I got this shirt for you, I want you to come check it out.” I didn’t get a chance to see it… he was traveling with us to Philly.
After the game we won thankfully, he brings me the shirt… But anyway, I get the shirt and I’m like “Dang what do what do I do.” Because the game is already over… But I got media. I have media so I’m like bet… Put the shirt on… I go in there, put the shades on and you know, the rest is history.
There is no doubt that this is an entertaining story from John Collins, and it’s a natural reaction to want to commemorate one of your greatest moments as an athlete. There is no question that Collins enjoyed being able to dunk on one of the best players in the game.
The Atlanta Hawks are currently the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference, and they don’t look like the team that managed to get to the playoffs and pull off some upsets during the postseason. Hopefully, they are able to change things and go on a run in the near future.
