John Wall Has Played Less Games Than Dirk Nowitzki In The Last 5 Seasons Despite Dirk Being Retired For 3 Years

John Wall was selected as the first overall pick by the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA Draft. The point guard was expected to turn the franchise around with his arrival. Well, he did try his best for at least a few years.

During his 9 season stay, the franchise made it to the postseason only 4 times. And in those 4 occurrences, they never even made it out of the second record of the playoffs. However, the organization believed in Wall and he was handed a four-year $170 million extension in the 2017 summer.

That's when things started to go downhill for the then-All-Star guard. His career has been plagued by injuries and he has spent more time off the court than on it. It became an even more worrying subject when an NBA fan on Reddit pointed out a surprising fact about Wall.

According to the Redditor, over the last five seasons, John Wall has played fewer games than Dirk Nowitzki, who has been retired for the last three years.

Taking the five-year span into account, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk played a total of 128 games from the start of the 2017-18 games to the 2018-19 season. After that Nowitzki decided to hang his sneakers on the wall.

On the other hand, from the start of the 2017-18 season until now, Wall has been part of just 113 games. While it is understandable that Wall has missed many games due to injuries, the number is still surprising.

Moreover, it doesn't seem like the number is about to improve anytime soon. Since being traded to the Houston Rockets, he has played just 40 games for the franchise. This season, he is yet to play even a single game since the two sides are stuck in a stalemate.

While Wall was under the impression that he was teaming up with James Harden, Harden was traded soon after Wall joined the team. Now, he refuses to play for a rebuilding. The only way out for the two sides is if the Rockets can find a trade for the veteran point guard.

Recent rumors suggest that the Boston Celtics might try to trade for John Wall. Considering Wall's hefty contract, Boston is one of the only viable options left for the Rockets to trade the 5-star All-Star.
