Ever since he left the Washington Wizards in 2021, John Wall has been wandering around, trying to find a place where he feels as comfortable as he felt during his time in D.C.

His exit from the capital team wasn’t as good as he would have liked, but Wall kept going. He saw a new opportunity in his arrival in Houston since he was ready to team up with James Harden to try to do something good in H-Town. However, things never clicked between them, and it seemed like it was like that from the very beginning.

Wall’s tenure in Houston wasn’t good at all, either, but he felt that everything started that moment when he greeted Harden, and the 2018 NBA MVP didn’t sound so interested in his arrival on the team.

John Wall Calls James Harden’s Attitude During Final Days With Rockets ‘Toxic’

During his recent participation in Run Your Race, Wall discussed a variety of topics, including the chance he thought the Wizards had to beat the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017, the point guard talked about his first hours in Houston and how unwelcomed he felt by James Harden, who was trying to push for a trade at the time (1:27:40).

“Trash. Beyond trash. I’m going there thinking James is gonna be there once I get traded, but he already wants out. When I landed, I’m like, ‘What’s up? I’m about to land. Gotta go do my conference s–t.’ He’s like, ‘Well, I’m on my way to Atlanta to go to Lil Baby’s birthday.’ The f–k? He talking about, ‘You wanna get on the jet with me?’ B—h, I just got traded here. I can’t f–k up. I’ve got to be on good terms. I don’t know how the owner is, how the GM is. I don’t know nothing,” Wall said.

He explained that this was a different situation for him, as he never had to go through something like this in Washington and had to see a way to surf the wave while Harden and the team’s front office fixed the issue.

“This is new. This ain’t like I’m in DC, and if I was there, I’d been like, ‘Hell yeah, I’m out. It’s my show.’ He didn’t come to training camp, none of that. That news was all toxic, and for me, I ain’t play in 2 years. My mom passed, Achilles, then COVID. I said, ‘I don’t give a f**ck who playing or not, I just want to hoop,” Wall added.

This association didn’t have time to pan out, as Harden went off on teammates after a loss, forcing the Rockets to find a trade for him. That’s when he was first traded to the Brooklyn Nets, where he’d repeat this same strategy, finally landing in Philadelphia, where he currently plays and hopes to win a championship.

As for Wall, he wasn’t part of the Rockets’ plans after that, and he was sent home while the team tried to find a trade partner for him. After working on a buyout, he’s now a part of the Los Angeles Clippers, but his future with the team is reportedly in jeopardy as they study moves to improve their roster.
