LeBron James keeps getting closer to breaking the all-time scoring record, which currently belongs to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a legend of the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s been a minute since Kareem broke this record, and LeBron appears to be really close to doing the same in the next couple of games, confirming that he’s one of the greatest players to ever live.

Abdul-Jabbar has been showering LeBron with praise, even showing his desire that the King carries the torch for a long time once he breaks the record, shutting down all the notions that he had any type of problem with LeBron whatsoever.

In fact, KAJ explained the differences between this moment and the one where he surpassed Wilt Chamberlain many years ago, making it clear that this isn’t, under any circumstances, the same situation.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Shares His True Feelings On LeBron James Breaking His Scoring Record

Abdul-Jabbar opened up on this possibility back in October, explaining that James going for his record will feel different than when he broke Chamberlain’s, expressing his happiness for it, saying that he’ll celebrate LeBron and his new accolade.

“When I broke Wilt Chamberlain’s scoring record in 1984 — the year LeBron was born — it bothered Wilt, who’d had a bit of a one-sided rivalry with me since I’d started doing so well in the NBA,” he added. “I don’t feel that way toward LeBron. Not only will I celebrate his accomplishment, I will sing his praises unequivocally.”

The King is really getting there, as he keeps posting big numbers night in and night out. On Tuesday night, he became No. 4 on the all-time assists list, only trailing John Stockton, Jason Kidd, and Chris Paul, respectively. LeBron stated that he’s not trying to chase Stockton on that list, but it’s a given that he’ll surpass Kareem soon.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend is ready for that moment, and he won’t shy his emotions when the King finally makes history.
