LeBron James’ longevity is something unmatched, as he keeps playing at the highest level after turning 38, showing that for him, age is indeed just a number. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has taken great care of his body, and those decisions keep paying off for him.

James keeps breaking and setting records, even if he’s not too interested in that. While he’s closer to breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, the King also adds other accolades to his impressive resume, and on Tuesday night, he climbed to the No. 4 position on the all-time assists list.

James surpassed both Mark Jackson, who had 10,334 assists, and Steve Nash, formerly at No. 4, who recorded 10,335 assists throughout his career. James was happy with his good performance, but he’s always looking for more.

LeBron James Opens Up On His Chances To Surpass John Stockton’s Assist Record

Now, LeBron is close to cracking into the top 3 of all time, but he’ll have a hard time doing it, considering that the No. 3 on the list is still playing. Chris Paul ranks 3rd as of right now, with Jason Kidd sitting at 2nd with 12,091 assists. The top spot belongs to John Stockton, who amassed 15,806 during his career.

Following the game, LeBron was asked about the chances of him continuing to play to see if he could give Stockton a run for his money, but the team declined, saying he won’t stick around that long (4:42 mark).

“I’m not thinking about that at all. I’ve been playing like for 19 seasons and for 17 I’ve played 82 games or some crazy stat like that. No, I’m good on that. I’m good, but I’m happy to be linked with some of the greats for sure,” LeBron said.

John Stockton is truly a legend when it comes to assisting teammates. The Utah Jazz legend posted incredible numbers against every team in the league on his way to this unbreakable record.

His averages were simply crazy, and it’s practically impossible to see somebody getting close to it anytime soon. Stockton, just like LeBron, had incredible longevity, but the King’s won’t be enough to beat the point guard’s impressive record.
