There aren’t many players who can match the level of talent that the Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant has. Over the years, Durant has only added more skill to his arsenal and will undoubtedly get inducted into the Hall of Fame after retiring from the league.

But if there’s any spot on his otherwise excellent resume in the NBA, it is his decision to join the Golden State Warriors. Many started hating KD after he ‘chased’ two NBA Championships by joining the Dubs in 2016. As a result, when Durant announced his departure from the Warriors, most linked it to the former NBA MVP trying to improve his legacy.

Kevin Durant On His Legacy In The NBA

When we talk about leaving a mark in the NBA, there’s hardly anyone who did it better than Michael Jordan and LeBron James. In fact, when talking about the GOAT debate, the names of Jordan and James are the firsts that come to any fan’s mind. Although Kevin Durant is a talented player, he is still far from reaching the legacies of MJ and LeBron.

But as it turns out, the Slim Reaper is not even trying to be better than them. All he wants to do is win games and continue playing basketball at an elite level.

Via The Washington Post:

“I just wanted to play ball somewhere else,” Durant said of joining the Brooklyn Nets. But a lot of people see it as I’m chasing something. And I think it probably stems [from] when I said, ‘I don’t want to be No. 2 no more.’ I was No. 2 in high school, in the draft. But what I had to explain to people was, I had just lost in the Finals. I wanted to go back and win the Finals. It wasn’t about: ‘I want to be the best ever. I want to be better than LeBron or [Michael Jordan].’ I don’t give a s–t about that. I want to wake up every day and do what I do. If we win, I know that stuff comes with me being the best that I can be.”

Durant is certainly hooping well, even after turning 34 years old earlier this season. He has been carrying most of the load for the Nets and has helped them reach a 20-12 record in the Eastern Conference. And is obviously one of the prime contenders to win the MVP award. Whether he can lead them to win an NBA title or not, only time will tell.
