Kyrie Irving Is Using Kevin Durant As A Leverage In Negotiation With The Nets Per NBA Insider

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant playing together for the same team sounds scary, at least on paper. But the two tried that while donning the jersey of the Brooklyn Nets, and unfortunately, so far, it hasn't worked out well.

The two players have technically spent three seasons together but failed to reach the NBA Finals in any of the seasons. Now, as per many reports, it seems like the duo's run together is about to end.

The major reason behind it is Kyrie Irving being adamant about signing a supermax deal and the Brooklyn Nets not wanting to give him the said contract. After all, in the last three seasons, Kyrie has missed a lot of games due to various reasons.

Additionally, Kyrie is now being linked to the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks. There is still the possibility of the two making it work, but it seems very unlikely. Even more so after it was revealed that Kyrie is apparently using Kevin Durant to leverage a bigger deal from the Nets.

"Kyrie Irving’s leverage in negotiations with the Nets is that Kevin Durant will want a trade if he leaves."

Considering the fact that KD joined the Nets to play with Kai and potentially lead the team to an NBA Championship, it is not surprising that things have come to this.

If Irving indeed decides to leave the Nets, there is no reason for Durant to stay with the team, and he could simply force a trade out of the team. We saw that happen earlier as well with James Harden.

So the Nets are in a tough spot right now. With each passing day, it is looking like that KD and Kyrie aren't as close as they appear to be, as it was reported by an NBA insider. What does the future hold for the Brooklyn Nets? We will find out in the coming days.
