NBA superstar Luka Doncic has been a busy man this season. Besides averaging a near triple-double for the Mavericks, he’s also building a family at home with his longtime fiancée, Anamaria Goltes. In a post on socials this week, he announced the birth of their daughter, Gabriela, as the reason for his absence against the Memphis Grizzlies.

After years together, the couple revealed their status as engaged in July when Luka posted the following picture on his personal Instagram page.

Unlike many celebrities and athletes today, Luka and Goltes are childhood sweethearts who met on vacation over 12 years ago. And while it’s unknown when the date of their wedding will be, one can imagine that it will be quite an event given Luka’s net worth of roughly $25 million in 2023. For now, though, Doncic is just focused on living in the moment and appreciating the miracle that is the cycle of life.

A New Chapter For Luka Doncic

Luka entered his sixth season as a 4x All-Star, and expectations were high from the very start. Unlike last season, Doncic has managed to find success for the Mavericks early on and is leading the way with his best season yet. Averaging 31.1 points, 8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game on 48.9% shooting, Doncic is very much in the MVP conversation and is quickly cementing his place as one of the great players of this modern generation.

Set to make $176 million through 2027, Doncic is already one of the league’s highest-paid players and he deserves every penny. The only question now for Luka is what he can accomplish at this stage of his career. With Kyrie Irving and an interesting supporting cast to back him up, he’s got the tools he needs to make a run in the West and he’ll have more incentive than ever before to secure his legacy and bring home an NBA title to celebrate with his friends and family.

Dallas Mavericks Are A Darkhorse Contender

With Luka set to miss Friday’s game in Dallas, it’ll be up to Kyrie Irving and company to try and pull out a win against one of the worst teams in the NBA. At 11-6 this season, they certainly have a wider margin for error than they did last year, but the West is also deeper than ever before. If they play their cards right, the Mavericks could emerge as a potential threat in the West. Besides the stars, the Mavericks will be leaning on players like Grant Williams, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Dereck Lively II to fill in the gaps and provide what the core players don’t.

Of course, unless the Mavericks improve on defense, there will always be a reason to doubt their chances in the postseason but Doncic is a winner at heart and only a fool would count him out when he’s healthy. Now that the guy is a dad for the first time, it may unlock a new level to his game, and that will surely be a sight to see…
