Russell Westbrook has been having a very tough time since joining the Los Angeles Lakers. Westbrook has not performed up to the level that fans expect him to, and as a result, he has been on the receiving end of criticism. One word, in particular, has become synonymous with his poor performances and has been used by fans and analysts to call him out; Westbrick.

The term has blown up in popularity during Westbrook’s stint in Los Angeles, as Russ is no longer able to make jump shots properly. Russ came out after the Lakers played the Spurs and said that he would no longer allow people to call him Westbrook as it was disrespectful to his name.

But that has only appeared to bolster fans in that regard. Fans took to Russell Westbrook’s Instagram page and flooded the comments of his last post with ‘Westbrick’ along with the brick emoji. Clearly, fans are not willing to stop and are doubling down on the jokes now that Westbrook admitted that he is bothered by the name.

These fans are trying to poke fun at Westbrook, and feel as though they have more ammunition now that he admitted to not liking the name. There were also fans in the comments who showed support to Westbrook but compared to the people who were there to troll him, those fans were outnumbered.

Magic Johnson came out recently and backed Westbrook and his family, noting that threats against his family will not be tolerated. His wife Nina spoke yesterday hoping that players in future generations will not have to suffer through the abuse and trolling that Russ has dealt with over his career and especially during the course of this season.
