The rivalry between LeBron James and Michael Jordan’s fan bases will never end. The two are considered the best players of all time. But their fanbases argue about which player is better at all times. The advent of social media has allowed this debate to grow and become one of the most prominent topics of discussion in the basketball world.

Older fans side with Michael Jordan, as he was the defining player of their generation. Whereas there are other fans of the newer generation who have seen LeBron James think he is the greatest player of all time. By all accounts, this debate will truly never end.

Jordan entered the league in 1984 after a successful stint in North Carolina, where he won the national championship. Jordan immediately became a superstar, winning Rookie Of The Year, and becoming an All-Star in quick time. From there, Jordan went on to win 5 MVP titles, a Defensive Player Of The Year, and 6 NBA Championships.

Jordan also had what many consider to be the ‘perfect’ season in 1995-96 when the Bulls went 72-10, for which he won an MVP, and then went on to win the NBA championship and Finals MVP.

On the other hand, LeBron James has been in the league since 2003 and is still playing at the highest level to this day. James has won also been a Rookie Of The Year, 4 MVP titles, and 4 NBA Championships.

LeBron was very close to having a perfect season in 2013, arguably his best year, but missed out on the Defensive Player Of The Year to Marc Gasol, which kept him from that accolade. Despite this, James’ accolades speak for themselves.

But now the debate has taken a different turn. Instagram account @king.lebron.james posted a picture asking which group would win a 3 v 3 matchup – 1984 Michael Jordan, 1996 MJ, and 2003 Jordan or 2003 LeBron James, 2013 LeBron, and 2021 LeBron. The argument is split right down the middle, with both sides making valid points.

The debate is still as heated today as it was five years ago. And as long as James continues to play in the NBA and find more success, fans will continue to argue about which player is better. But regardless, both James and Jordan are two of the best ever, and it’s hard to imagine a player reaching their level anytime soon.
