Patrick Beverley recently revealed a bizarre incident in which he was drug tested 11 times following his team’s huge victory against Hapoel Jerusalem. Beverley, who currently plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Winner League, opened up about the situation on his podcast, detailing how the experience unfolded after what was a big win for his team.

“I’ve been playing great basketball. We’ve been playing great basketball. We won four in a row. We just beat Jerusalem in Jerusalem. That was a vibe. After the game, I got drug tested.”

“Had to take 11 drug tests, 11 drug tests. Y’all heard me, 11 drug tests. They said the first 10 were, I had too much water in my system, but I came off the Yom Kippur fast. But yeah, I was there at four o’clock in the morning after the Jerusalem game. I didn’t get home till like 5.14.”

“11 drugs, I don’t think y’all hear me. I had to piss in a cup 11 times. I had to piss in a cup 11 times. I was there till four o’clock in the morning. I got home from Jerusalem at 5.14. We had an eight o’clock in the morning flight, in the game the next day. I got another dub, so Eurovibe has been fun.”

Patrick Beverley explained that the initial drug tests showed that he had too much water in his system, which can sometimes be a red flag in drug testing procedures, leading to further scrutiny. This resulted in an absurd sequence of tests that kept him at the testing site until the early hours of the morning.

Beverley referenced the Jewish holiday during which many people fast. This could have affected his hydration levels, contributing to the irregular results in the first few tests. Despite explaining his situation, Beverley still had to undergo 11 separate drug tests.

Beverley, though clearly frustrated by the ordeal, found humor in the situation and remained focused on the positives, particularly his team’s performance. Beverley has been thriving in the Israeli league, averaging 14.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting an impressive 47.1% from the field and 45.0% from beyond the arc. His leadership and strong performance on both ends of the floor have been crucial for Hapoel Tel Aviv as they continue their solid run in the league.

Despite the controversy surrounding the excessive drug tests, Beverley’s focus remains on the court, where he continues to be a vital player for his team. In the game against Hapoel Jerusalem, Beverley scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, made 3 steals, and dished out 5 assists, helping his team secure an 85-72 victory. His teammate, Johnathan Motley, also performed well, recording 22 points in the win.

While the drug testing issue caused some frustration, Beverley’s strong play in Israel continues to be the main story. He’s proving his worth on the court, and despite the unusual circumstances off the court, he remains dedicated to helping his team succeed.
