Anthony Edwards is one of the most promising young talents in the league. He is an explosive scorer who can go off and take over a game, and his contributions have been key to helping the Minnesota Timberwolves get their current positive record of 38-29. Currently, Anthony Edwards is averaging 21.3 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 3.6 APG.

There are a lot of people who believe that Anthony Edwards can be a superstar in the future due to his scoring ability and athleticism. Patrick Beverley has recently taken it one step further, claiming that he told Anthony Edwards that he could become Michael Jordan in the future.

I told him… you got a chance brother, to be Michael Jordan. The kid doesn’t indulge in anything negative… just all positivity. His talent level and skill level is crazy, he has a chance to be really, really, really special, really special in this league.

There is no doubt that this is a bold claim from Patrick Beverley. It is hard to see any young player currently that could come close to being Michael Jordan. Anthony Edwards definitely has confidence in his abilities though, and isn’t afraid of comparing himself to Jordan, as he previously told Timberwolves coach Chris Finch that he’d be Michael Jordan if he ever grew to 6’6″.

Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said Anthony Edwards has grown about 2 inches since the Wolves drafted him; “He told me don’t let me get to 6-6 or I’ll be Michael Jordan.”

Confidence is key to a player’s success in the league, and Anthony Edwards clearly has a lot of belief in himself. While he may not ever become a player of Michael Jordan’s caliber, he can still be a very productive player in the NBA for years to come.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are 7th in the Western Conference, and their primary goal over the next few weeks will be trying to avoid the play-in tournament. There is a chance they could succeed, and if they are to do so they’ll need Anthony Edwards to be at his best.
