Even over six months past the deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, Pau Gasol is keeping the memory is his lifelong friend alive.
Today, Pau announced on Twitter that he and his wife had just welcomed their new daughter into the world, who they named after Gigi.
Gasol and Bryant shared a bond that went way beyond basketball. Long after their time as teammates ended, they stayed in touch and became family to each other, with Pau even being called "uncle" by the Bryant family.
When Kobe's death hit the news in late January of 2020, Gasol was clearly shaken, and he was one of the first to speak up and share his relationship/experience with the family.
Months later, with all that has been going on, Kobe's death has become somewhat of a backstory, even in regards to the NBA world. But the Gasol's aren't going to let him die and honored him in the best way they could -- by naming their daughter after one of the people he loved most.
