Talen Horton-Tucker is one of the Los Angeles Lakers' young talents, but he hasn't performed as expected this season. Currently, Talen Horton-Tucker is averaging 10.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 2.8 APG, but only shooting 38.2% from the field and 24.2% from beyond the arc. It is obvious that he hasn't had the most efficient year, and that he's been inconsistent.
Even with the young guard's shooting slump, Russell Westbrook isn't worried whatsoever. Westbrook recently claimed that Horton-Tucker is "gonna be fine" and that he's "not worried" about his shooting. After all, most shooting slumps do end, and it is possible that we see Talen Horton-Tucker perform much better in the future.
Russell Westbrook on THT's struggles: "He's gonna be fine. He's a great talent. ... I'm not worried about THT at all."
While it is obvious that Talen Horton-Tucker hasn't yet had a stretch of good performances, a lot of the Los Angeles Lakers' current problems aren't due to him. He's one of the solid perimeter defenders on the team, an area that the Lakers have lacked in.
The Los Angeles Lakers will need Horton-Tucker to step it up offensively though, and that can certainly help take some pressure off of LeBron James and Russell Westbrook while Anthony Davis is out with an injury. Horton-Tucker will likely continue to receive increased touches while Davis is absent, and hopefully, he is able to capitalize on the opportunity and put his best foot forward.
Hopefully, we see things turn around for the Los Angeles Lakers. They have dealt with injuries this season and haven't managed to develop chemistry between all of their players. However, there are still people who believe that they could win the championship. They have the star power to do so, but they are a long way from being a championship team.
