Seth Curry Calls Out The Brooklyn Nets For Relying Too Much On Kevin Durant And Kyrie Irving

Seth Curry gave his Brooklyn Nets teammates a reality check about relying too much on. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and being too focused on playing isolation basketball.

The Brooklyn Nets looked unstoppable for a while earlier in the regular season, they rattled off an impressive 12-game winning streak. The Nets scored seemingly at will and were able to hold their opponents to smaller tallies as well, with Kevin Durant making an MVP case for himself. Since the streak ended, though, there have been some struggles for the Nets as they try to make it happen without their main man.

The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder unexpectedly on Monday night, with the team failing to score enough. While Kevin Durant‘s absence was a factor, as it always is, other players stepped up, including Seth Curry. Curry had 23 points in the game, but it wasn’t enough for the Nets to clinch an expected victory. And speaking after the game, Seth called out his teammates for their style of play.

“I mean, that’s the way we’ve been playing all year,” Curry said after the disappointing loss. “We’ve been kind of playing iso ball. Rely a lot on Kevin (Durant) and Kyrie (Irving) just to create. One-on-one offense is kind of tough to score on two, three defenders.

“So, we got to figure out other ways we’re gonna play with Kevin not out there creating shots for himself and other people. I mean, we’re a different team now. So, we got to figure it out.”

This is very honest from Seth Curry, he didn’t hold back in his assessment of what the team has been lacking. The Nets do need to get their act together and start getting some wins again, or their earlier hard work in the season might come undone. In any case, it’s not like there’s too much to worry about.

Kyrie Irving Wasn’t Too Bothered By The Loss Against The Oklahoma City Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder might be an improved team this season, but any serious championship outfit should be beating them if they want to be taken seriously. But Kyrie Irving isn’t taking the loss to heart, calling these warmup games.

“These are warmup games. The big performances come in late April,” Irving said postgame. “Just have to enjoy it and smile at how you lose and be able to pick yourself back up. I’m doing the best job I can.”

The Nets need to secure a good seed if they don’t want a grueling playoff path this season, so Irving’s not fully right to say that. In any case, their roster has the talent to win games even when the stars are out, so Curry saying they might need to address their playing style is quite valid still.
