Statue Of Kobe Bryant And Daughter Gianna Placed At Site Of Helicopter Crash

Wednesday 26th marked the second anniversary of Kobe Bryant's tragic death. The Los Angeles Lakers legend lost his life when he traveled to a basketball game with his daughter Gianna and seven other people.

It's been two years since that terrible moment and the world is still mourning the loss of Bryant. Kobe's made a huge impact on the NBA, and everybody has tried to pay homage to him in any form.

One sculptor paid the ultimate respect to Kobe and Gianna, unveiling a bronze statue at the site of the crash. Dan Medina took the piece to the place of the accident, having a big gesture with the 5x NBA champion and his daughter, who was on her way to becoming a professional basketball player, too.

A sculptor in Los Angeles has honored the anniversary of the deaths of Kobe and Gigi Bryant by placing a statue of the two at the site where they tragically passed away in 2020.

The artist, Dan Medina, tells TMZ Sports he created the 160-pound bronze figure and pulled it up to the scene in Calabasas via a wagon on Wednesday.

The sculpture is only a temporary piece -- Medina says he'll haul it back down at sunset -- but the artist tells us he's hoping the city will allow him to put up a larger, more life-sized version permanently at the site.

The artwork, while smaller than what Medina hopes it'll ultimately end up being, is incredible -- it's a depiction of Kobe in a Lakers uniform with his arm around Gigi, who's also in a basketball uniform holding a ball.

This is a big detail from Medina. It'd be awesome if he's allowed to bring a bigger piece to the place. Kobe has received a lot of love not only in the US but around the world. Murals, courts, and now statues have been unveiled to celebrate Kobe's impact on the game.

The world lost a real one two years ago and it's still hard to think about this place without Kobe Bryant in it. The Black Mamba was a legend on and off the court, who sadly lost his life very early. Wherever you are, we hope you're smiling at all the good things people have done for you, Kobe. Mamba forever!
