After the Los Angeles Lakers assembled another superteam in the NBA, the comparisons with the Brooklyn Nets haven’t stopped. The Californians have a big shot at the NBA title this season, and so have the Nets, sparking a lot of debates around the league.

Plenty of fans are predicting what will happen if these two teams clash in the 2022 Finals. Even analysts have chimed in on this situation, including Stephen A. Smith. The ESPN talent was asked on Twitter who would a hypothetical matchup between the Lakers and Nets with the current states of these teams. The diehard New York Knicks fan sided with his neighbors, picking Brooklyn over LA.

Moreover, he explained why he believed Kevin Durant is the best player in the world right now, giving two compliments to the Nets.

“His defense has improved and he’s one of the top-3 scorers in the History of Basketball. Is that clear enough?”

KD has improved his game in the past couple of seasons. This is impressive because he suffered an ACL two years ago, and people didn’t think he would come back to his best version.

Last season, the Nets fell short against the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoff. Durant will try to get revenge this campaign and lead his squad to the promised land.

The Lakers will try the same after a disappointing 2020/21 season. These teams are assembled to win it all, and fans can’t wait to see them going at it in the biggest series of all.
