Christmas Day is a day when the best NBA matchups are on national television, and it is generally viewed as an important day for the league. We often see top-tier superstars face off against one another on Christmas, and it seems as though there will be at least one top-tier Christmas matchup during the 2022-23 season.

NBA insider Marc Stein has recently revealed that the first draft of next year’s NBA season has the Dallas Mavericks facing the Los Angeles Lakers. There is no doubt that this will be an elite game, as LeBron James playing against Luka Doncic is unlikely to disappoint.

The first draft of next season’s NBA schedule has Lakers at Dallas/LeBron at Luka on Christmas Day, league sources tell me. Changes are still possible before the full schedule officially drops next week but Christmas games usually hold.

Luka Doncic has notably been compared to LeBron James. While he obviously isn’t as athletic as James, Doncic has a similar feel for the game and scoring ability. LeBron James notably stated that Doncic reminds him of himself and that he loves “everything” about Doncic’s game.

I love everything about his game. I love everything about him. The way he plays the game reminds me of the way I play the game. We’re just triple threats. We rebound, we pass, which is the number one thing on our mind, trying to keep our teammates engaged, and keep our teammates feeling good on the floor, keeping our teammates in rhythm, and we’ll put 40 on you too if you disrespect us.”

Both players are primed for monster seasons next year. Luka Doncic could potentially win his first MVP with the Mavericks next season, while LeBron James will likely continue to play at an All-NBA level as he did with the Lakers this season.

Hopefully, we don’t see this game get changed by the league. LeBron James facing Luka Doncic would draw in a lot of fans, and the game itself would likely be a thriller, same as almost all of their other matchups.
