NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics Are Frontrunners In Rick Carlisle Sweepstakes

With the Dallas Mavericks shaking things up, their long-time head coach, Rick Carlisle, is calling it quits.

As reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Carlisle informed Mark Cuban of his decision on Thursday after 13 years with Dallas.

And while we don’t know for sure what his plans are, it’s safe to say he’ll be on a new team before too long, and the Boston Celtics are (unsurprisingly) leading the race for his services.

Brad Stevens is a brilliant basketball mind who made the move to the front office earlier this month.

With the Celtics eliminated from the playoffs, and in need of a new coach, it’s only natural that they would look to Carlisle: an experienced, Championship-winning coach who seems to always get the best out of his stars.

In Boston, Carlisle will get the chance to coach two young NBA stars (Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown) in one of the best and most successful organizations in sports history.

Really, it’s a match made in heaven, and bringing in Carlisle would make for an amazing start to the Stevens era.

Still, nothing is set in stone, and other teams around the association (Portland, Chicago) will no doubt be trying to lure him in as well.

No matter which way you look at it, Rick Carlisle is going to have his fair share of suitors, and he is the type of coach other teams have dreams about hiring.
