NBA Rumors: Mavericks Will Not Trade Seth Curry To Lakers For Alex Caruso Or JaVale McGee

3 Min Read

While Seth may be the lesser of the two Curry brothers (in terms of talent on the basketball court) he’s still among the NBA’s best shooters and, therefore, is also a very hot commodity on the trade market. Teams all around the league have, at one point, expressed interest in the sharpshooter and the Lakers are no exception.

Fans had hope that the team could pull off a deal and in one proposed trade scenario by Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, he actually had the Lakers acquiring Curry for Caruso and JaVale McGee.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though Seth is available, especially not for two Lakers role-players.

“While it is fun to meme Alex Caruso and he is a fan-favorite, he is not as good of a player as Seth Curry. Curry is a bit more one-dimensional, but he is one of the best shooters in the league and alongside LeBron James would be absolutely lethal. Caruso does not add anything to the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks do have to figure out the center position as both of their centers are free agents but that solution is not going to be trading Curry for McGee. They can get someone off the free-agent market that will produce for Dallas just as much as McGee would.”

With Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingius, the Mavericks are in the thick of a playoff race that they are more than capable of winning. Though they are just 7th in the West, they have as much potential as any other team out there assuming they are healthy and ready to go by July 30th.

Curry will, undoubtedly, be key to their success this summer. He averaged 12 points and 2 assists on 45% shooting from beyond the arc this season and it’s clear his offensive abilities will help open up the floor and rack up points for the squad moving forward.

Don’t expect him to be going anywhere anytime soon.
