NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Preparing To Be Without ‘At Least Five’ Players For The Next Several Days Because Of COVID-19

With COVID-19 still surging around the globe, the impact it’s having on the NBA continues to be imminent.

Already, several games have been postponed and several players have missed time due to COVID protocols.

“The NBA called off two more games because of COVID-related and contact tracing issues on Monday, and a person with knowledge of the situation said the Miami Heat were preparing to be without ‘at least five’ players for the next several days because of possible exposure to the coronavirus.”

Obviously, players missing chunks of the season like this can have pretty negative implications. It can affect team chemistry, player improvement, and really mess with the flow of the roster.

Perhaps more concerning is what might happen if an outbreak does happen within the league. What could it mean, and how might it affect the bottom line? One executive has already given this season an asterisk — with that very thought in mind.

As for the Heat, specifically, they are already 4-4 on the season. if they go without five or more players for a few more games, it could put them in a bigger hole this season. With so many good teams, and competition rising, one has to wonder how many games the Heat can afford to lose.

Nevertheless, they don’t seem to be too worried about it.
