NBA Rumors: New York Knicks And Miami Heat Have “Interest” In Victor Oladipo

2 Min Read

2x All-Star Victor Oladipo seems to be nearing the end of his stint with the Rockets. After just 13 games with the franchise, his future has been flagged with a huge question mark, as he will likely be among the best available free agents this summer.

Vic should have his pick of the crop but, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 28-year-old guard is drawing interest from two Eastern Conference teams in particular: the Miami Heat and New York Knicks.

It is typical that teams become more focused in pursuing trades closer to the deadline, which is still a little less than four weeks away. Houston has yet to engage with teams on trade talks involving Oladipo, sources said.

Nevertheless, Oladipo, 28, has the chance to become one of the best two-way players available at the trade deadline or free agency. Miami and New York are among teams who’ve had an interest in Oladipo, and both have the salary-cap space to sign him outright in the summer.

Oladipo is not a franchise centerpiece, but he is a solid secondary co-star to plug into any lineup.

With Julius Randle in New York, the 28-year-old can be a leader for his younger teammates and bring the Knicks that much closer to being a consistent playoff team.

For the Heat, Vic is a perfect guy for their system. He’s a great spot-up shooter, a selfless player, and has one of those “killer” mentalities that all Heat players seem to embody.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up next season.
