NBA Rumors: Raptors And Four Other Teams Have Joined Ben Simmons Sweepstakes

The Athletic

It wasn’t that long ago that the Philadelphia 76ers announced their intention to keep Ben Simmons. But after an embarrassing finish to the 2021 season and no assurance that Simmons will improve on his flaws, it’s no surprise to hear they have begun listening to offers.

According to Marc Stein, at least five teams have emerged in the sweepstakes.

Just scan through the teams that have been linked to a Simmons trade already: Cleveland, Indiana, Minnesota and Sacramento are known suitors. Toronto is also said to have expressed interest. More will emerge.

Ben’s value has tanked after his performance in the playoffs, where he struggled to even muster up the confidence to shoot the basketball.

Still, the young star can make a lot of waves in the right situation. As an exceptional playmaker, elite defender, and quality finisher, there is much to his game that is desirable, especially for a team looking for an extra punch.

Cleveland, Indiana, Toronto, Minnesota, and Sacramento aren’t the only teams expected to compete for Ben’s services. Portland and even Golden State could make an offer as well.

In the end, we can expect a busy summer for the Sixers, and it will be interesting to see if/how a Simmons move shakes up the NBA.
