Kentucky basketball player Terrence Clarke has been confirmed dead as the result of a tragic car accident in Southern California.

“WKYT has confirmed former UK men’s basketball player Terrence Clarke has died in Los Angeles,” WKYT in Kentucky reported Thursday. “Sources tell WKYT Clarke and BJ Boston were leaving a workout in LA. We have been told Clarke died on the way to hospital. Boston was reportedly in a car behind him. We don’t know details on what happened.”

Following the heartbreaking news of his passing, the NBA community came together to express grief, show support, and band together for a collective moment of mourning.

It’s a truly tragic turn of events for a young man with so much ahead of him. Clarke, 19, was a freshman standout at the University of Kentucky, who recently declared for the 2021 Draft. Though fighting a “crushing” injury that cut his season short, he showed signs of promise, with season averages of 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 28.6 minutes of action.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family in wake of the tragic accident.
