Donovan Mitchell is one of the best shooting guards in the NBA. Mitchell is a 3-time All-Star and has proven he can be the No. 1 offensive option on a playoff team. Last season with the Utah Jazz, Donovan Mitchell averaged 25.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 5.3 APG.

This offseason, Donovan Mitchell has been frequently mentioned in trade rumors. He has most commonly been linked with the New York Knicks, and insiders have touted them as the favorites to land Mitchell.

Regarding Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, the New York Knicks are widely considered the favorite to acquire him in a trade in part because they have up to eight first-round picks available to include in a deal. The Heat doesn’t own that type of draft capital, which the Jazz reportedly covet.

Despite the New York Knicks being viewed as the favorites to land Donovan Mitchell, it seems as though trade talks between them and the Utah Jazz have stalled. Shams Charania recently revealed that there hasn’t been any contact between the two teams in “roughly the last two weeks”. Charania added that the Utah Jazz had been talking to other teams about a Donovan Mitchell trade, such as the Charlotte Hornets and the Washington Wizards.

“As of right now, sources tell me that talks between the Jazz and the Knicks around a Donovan Mitchell trade have stalled out. There hasn’t been contact between the two sides in roughly the last two weeks… these things can always be fluid, but this is where it stands right now. There’s really no movement as of yet on the Mitchell to the Knicks front.

In the meantime, I am told that the Jazz are continuing conversations with other teams that are interested in Mitchell, teams like Charlotte and Washington.”

It remains to be seen where Donovan Mitchell will eventually get moved to. He is definitely a difference-maker for any team offensively, due to his volume 3PT shooting and his shot creation.

Hopefully, Donovan Mitchell ends up on a contender, where he can compete for a championship. Unfortunately, his partnership with Rudy Gobert on the Jazz did not yield a championship, but perhaps a new situation is just what Donovan Mitchell needs.
