NBA Trade Rumors: The Rockets Have A Russell Westbrook Trade Offer Ready For The Lakers

3 Min Read

It seems hard to believe that Russell Westbrook was one of the best players in the league, just a few years ago. During his prime, Russ’ game was so enjoyable with all the fancy dunks and acrobatic shots.

On top of scoring, Brodie became a triple-double machine and has averaged a triple-double for an entire season four times in his career. Anyway, since leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, Westbrook has been on a declining path, losing his stardom each consequent season.

In the last three seasons, he has played for three different teams and hasn’t managed to fit well with either of the teams. He most recently contributed to the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2021-22 NBA season.

As usual, he failed to get adjusted to the city of Angels and had an underwhelming season. Now, it would be unfair to put the entire burden of the Lakers’ poor season on Russ’ shoulders, but he did play a crucial role in that.

Following the poor season, many believe it is time for the Purple and Gold to trade Westbrook to another team. Many believe that even if the Lakers decide to trade him, they don’t have many options out there.

But if we are to believe Spotrac’s Keith Smith, the Houston Rockets have a standing offer for Russell Westbrook. The Lakers just have to say yes and Brodie will once again be traded to the Rockets.

Via Spotrac:

“There’s considerable reporting that Pelinka has a standing offer to send Westbrook to the Houston Rockets for John Wall’s nearly-matching contract. The catch? LA will have to surrender one of the two tradable first round picks (in 2026, 2027 or 2028) they have left. The real question: Can the Lakers do better in a trade?”

Smith ended his report on an open note by asking whether the Lakers can get a better offer for Westbrook. To be honest, if the franchise wants to trade him, this might be the best offer that they get in the entire offseason. They will be getting another veteran point guard in John Wall, who might work well with the superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

As of now, these are nothing but rumors. Maybe we will get a better understanding of the same in the coming weeks. Until then, the Purple and Gold will also have time to think before deciding on Russ’ future with the Lakers.
