The 2023 NBA offseason has been nothing short of exciting, with several superstars demanding trades, the league could be ready for a shakeup. The most notable stars eager to leave their current teams are Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and James Harden of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The two stars have their personal choices of where they want to be traded. In this latest proposed trade, will Lillard and Harden get their wish?

Trade Details

76ers Receive: Damian Lillard, Terance Mann, Norman Powell, Robert Covington

Trail Blazers Receive: Furkan Korkmaz, Tyrese Maxey, Jaden Springer, Nicolas Batum, Amir Coffey, Marcus Morris Sr., Clippers’ 2028 First Round Pick, Clippers’ 2030 First Round Pick

Clippers Receive: James Harden, Tobias Harris

Is This Trade Realistic?

The Philadelphia 76ers shock the NBA world by trading for Damian Lillard. Philly, of course, was not Lillard’s preferred destination, as he wants to be in Miami.

Lillard has stated that if he’s not traded to the Heat, he will not suit up and play for the team. Does this mean the 76ers will have traded to get Lillard just to have him not play?

If this trade did take place, it’s likely Lillard would play and not sit out. But with how Lillard has been feeling this summer, you never know.

In this trade idea, the 76ers pick up solid players in Terance Mann, Norman Powell, and Robert Covington. If the 76ers could land these players to surround Joel Embiid, they could be a real threat to win the 2023-24 NBA championship.

The Portland Trail Blazers do not want to get rid of Damian Lillard. With the superstar demanding a trade, it appears that they have no choice but to rebuild for the future.

The Trail Blazers already have drafted a replacement for Lillard in Scoot Henderson, but this trade will strengthen their chances in the future. Portland gets solid players to throw in the mix in Furkan Korkmaz, Tyrese Maxey, Jaden Springer, Nicolas Batum, Amir Coffey, and Marcus Morris Sr.

This isn’t all. Portland also gets two future first-round picks, both from the Clippers. They will get the 2028 and 2030 First Round Picks.

If this trade goes down, Portland could be a threat in the league come the end of the decade. This is something you can’t say for now, even with Lillard on the roster.

The Clippers win big in this trade as they don’t give up any future trade picks. They also add James Harden to the mix of Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George.

This is a scary group of players, and when you add in Tobias Harris, who can help the bench unit, the Clippers might be the favorites.

Harden has expressed great interest in joining the Clippers, and to have a happy Harden means the star might perform at his highest level. This is something that has been questioned of Harden, as of late.

This Could Be The Blockbuster Trade Of The Year

If this trade goes down, it truly will be the highest thing to hit the league. The Clippers and 76ers will be real title contenders, while the Trail Blazers set themselves up for a positive future.

The only downside of this trade is Lillard not ending up where he wants to be. The trade will kill the 76ers chances of winning anything if Lillard decides not to show up and play.

If this occurs, the 76ers could likely lose Embiid, as he’s already shown signs of wanting out of Philadelphia. This would leave the 76ers in the basement of the league with no hope of returning as a contender for quite some time.

Will Lillard hold out if traded to the 76ers? Or will he join Embiid on the quest to bring a championship back to the City of Brotherly Love?
