  • Anthony Davis was open to a Milwaukee Bucks trade in the past
  • Being closer to Chicago is a factor for Davis
  • The Los Angeles Lakers have recently been linked with Giannis Antetokounmpo

Big man Anthony Davis has had a solid stint with the Los Angeles Lakers thus far, notably helping the team win the championship in 2020. Still, there is no guarantee that he will remain with the franchise for the rest of his career.

There is no doubt that there are certain trades where the Lakers could end up moving Anthony Davis. In fact, an NBA analyst previously proposed a blockbuster trade involving the Lakers moving Anthony Davis to the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo. That is certainly something that the Lakers would have to think about, given Antetokounmpo’s abilities. According to an NBA executive who spoke to Sean Deveney of Heavy, Anthony Davis was open to getting moved to the Milwaukee Bucks previously.

“Davis is a Chicago guy, he was open to a trade to Milwaukee before. Davis, when he is healthy, is not really much behind Giannis and some would argue he is ahead of him.”

If Anthony Davis were to get moved to the Milwaukee Bucks, he would have the opportunity to truly be the No. 1 on a franchise. Acquiring him in a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade would certainly keep the Bucks competitive as well, and the Bucks would still be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference if they were to acquire Davis and keep everyone else on their roster.

This past season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis averaged 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, while shooting 56.3% from the 3PT range. If he can stay healthy, he can be one of the most dominant big men in the league, and we’ll see if he can have a healthy season next year.

The Los Angeles Lakers Are A Potential Future Destination For Giannis Antetokounmpo

It seems as though Giannis Antetokounmpo joining the Los Angeles Lakers is a realistic possibility within the next few years It was previously reported that the Lakers are a potential future destination for Antetokounmpo, and it is easy to see why he would want to join them. The franchise simply has a track record of winning, and their goal every season is to win a championship. Antetokounmpo would be sure that the team would do everything in its power to win, which is ultimately what he wants.

It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers end up acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo going forward. That would certainly help them be competitive as LeBron James declines, and they could definitely build a winning team around him if he were to join them in free agency.

Some Believe Anthony Davis Is More Valuable Than Giannis Antetokounmpo In A Playoff Setting

Though Giannis Antetokounmpo is clearly a top-five player in the league right now, there are arguments for the Lakers to keep Anthony Davis over him. In fact, former NBA forward Sam Mitchell explained that Anthony Davis is more valuable than Giannis Antetokounmpo in a playoff setting due to his perimeter shooting ability.

Though it is true that Davis is slightly better on the perimeter than Antetokounmpo, it is hard to say that Davis is more valuable in the playoffs given the fact that Antetokounmpo won a championship as the No. 1 option on the Bucks in 2021. However, that doesn’t mean that Davis can’t prove Mitchell right in the future, and we’ll see what happens next season.
