Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best centers in the league when he’s healthy and well-known for his perimeter shooting ability. Karl-Anthony Towns is currently averaging 20.8 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 5.3 APG for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
There is no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns is a talented player. However, it seems as though the Minnesota Timberwolves could look to move him. Michael Pina of The Ringer has recently claimed that there will be “deafening chatter around Towns’ future” if the team misses the play-in tournament or loses before the second round. The team notably had championship expectations at the start of the season after trading for center Rudy Gobert.
Having just signed an extension, Towns can’t be traded until the summer. But if the Wolves either fail to qualify for the play-in or lose before the second round, expect deafening chatter around Towns’s future. There’s always a chance Minnesota turns things around by tightening up its three-point defense and finding a better way to space the floor around its three stars, but I’m not counting on it.
There is no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns has been a loyal player to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, it is clear that the franchise will explore every move that will make them better, even if it means trading its long-tenured star. Hopefully, though, the Minnesota Timberwolves manage to turn things around when Karl-Anthony Towns is back from injury and make the playoffs once again.
The Minnesota Timberwolves Are In Disarray
There is no doubt that the Minnesota Timberwolves have been one of the more disappointing teams of the season. They are currently 11th in the Western Conference with a 16-21 record. In fact, it was noted how disconnected the team was, with it being revealed that the team “hardly speak to one another.”
“The grizzlies just played terribly in 3rd but still extended lead. Seeing Wolves in person is jarring. That spirit they had when last saw em in playoffs is gone. They hardly speak to one another, and when do its usually met w/ an eye-roll,” Chris Vernon wrote.
It is clear that the Minnesota Timberwolves have had some chemistry issues this season, but perhaps that can change in the future. Sometimes it takes time for a team to adjust to adding a new star player, and clearly, that is the case for the Minnesota Timberwolves since adding Rudy Gobert.
The talent is absolutely there on the Minnesota Timberwolves roster. However, now it is imperative that they figure out a way to win games together. Perhaps we will see them turn things around in the second half of the season.
