Nikola Jokic is one of the most unique superstars in NBA history. The horse-riding seven-footer doesn’t seem too concerned with fame. He operates in his own universe and focuses on dominating NBA games. However, this three-time MVP shows his true self around his teammates.

For years, we’ve known about his affinity for Serbian folk music, introducing multiple Denver Nuggets teammates to it over the years as he plays it during practice. But when he’s not listening to that, he’s blasting 50 Cent’s ‘Many Men’ and rapping to every word, according to teammate DeAndre Jordan on ‘Run It Back FDTV.’

“Peyton Watson is our locker room DJ. Any time Jokic requests a song, if it’s not Serbian folk music, it is ‘Many Men’ by 50-Cent. And he knows the words from start to finish. That is a fact.”

This is so incredibly random, and the hosts knew it too. Nobody could contain their laughter at Jordan’s revelation, though Lou Williams deemed it as a very Serbian thing to do. Cultural sensibilities are unique for every region in the world, but it’s clear Jokic has made his earnest attempts at assimilating into American culture.

The center might have musical quirks but he’s still a beat on the court. He’s averaging 30.6 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 9.9 assists, on the verge of potentially averaging a 30-point triple-double over the entire season. He’s also one of the leading contenders for the MVP award, with a chance at winning his fourth MVP in five seasons. The last player to achieve that feat was LeBron James from 2009 to 2014.

Nikola Jokic’s MVP Campaign Criticized By Jalen Brunson

Nikola Jokic’s contention in the MVP race has been controversial this season. Jokic’s stats are incredible but the Nuggets aren’t winning games like they used to, currently holding the No. 4 seed with a 24-16 record.

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson isn’t happy with the Jokic MVP buzz this season after everyone ignored Luka Doncic’s similarly ridiculous production last season because the Dallas Mavericks didn’t have one of the best records in the NBA.

“Jokic is playing absolutely absurd. His numbers are crazy, right?… They’re not seeded where they were last year and people are still talking about him being MVP. Individually, he deserves it but when Luka was averaging damn near a triple-double, but their seed was nowhere people wanted to be, they were like, ‘Oh, he shouldn’t get the MVP because of seeding.'”

Luka averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists last season on a 50-win team but finished third in MVP voting. This season, it seems like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should take the trophy after averaging 31.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists for the OKC Thunder with the best record in the NBA (34-6).

Half the season is still yet to be played, so we’ll have to see how it plays out going forward. This MVP race will be pretty intense but Jokic’s grasp on the award could be ending if OKC maintains this winning pace.
