In a recent chat with the media, Warriors star Draymond Green sent a message directly to those who counted the Warriors out. In full confidence, Green condemned anyone who prematurely predicted the Warriors’ downfall and dismissed their opinion.

“We don’t pay a lot of attention,” Green said via Rachel Nichols. “The same people that counted us out, saying a jump shooting team would never win, that the first one was luck, then we won the second, and it was like oh, ‘Had to go get KD to do that then you win the third one,’ then it’s because they got KD then you go and get the fourth one and then they are done. You just kinda learn that most people who talk basketball just don’t know basketball. There’s just so many naysayers all the time. The same idiots that have been saying all of this since 2015.”

The Warriors have been competing for championships since 2015 when they won 67 games en route to their first title run. Back then, fan faith was shaky in the Warriors and they were the underdogs to win pretty much the whole way through.

After they beat LeBron that year and won 73 games the following season, there were still those who pushed back against the dynasty and tried to downplay some of their achievements.

All the while, the Warriors never once gave the doubters any merit. From pretty much day one, the core has had a strong faith in their success and it starts with Stephen Curry. The 2x MVP changed the game with his shooting and his unprecedented marksmanship made the Warriors nearly unbeatable in the West.

Four championships later, Curry’s legacy is already set with the Warriors and the same can be said for the legacy of Draymond Green, who will forever be recognized for his role as the enforcer. Their place in NBA history is set in stone and yet, somehow, people were ready to count them out after a few bad seasons.

Between the departures of Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson and the recent developments with Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green, the Warriors looked like they were in serious trouble for the future.

But after a 10-3 start (first place in the West), the Warriors are seemingly right back in play for the NBA championship and Draymond never had a doubt. As long as the core players can stay healthy and active this season, the Warriors will be a threat to all the best teams, and they might still have one more title run in them.

The lesson is that you should never count out this Warriors regime. As long as Steph and Draymond are in their uniform, there’s a chance for the Warriors to make a run and we’re seeing that in full effect this season they shatter all expectations.

Only time will tell if the Warriors can pull off another miracle but it wouldn’t be wise for anyone to overlook them right now given their recent success and their long history of winning. If their current trajectory holds up, the Warriors will be among the favorites to win the title this spring and it will surely make things interesting for whoever comes out of the East.
