Draymond Green addressed his performance during the Golden State Warriors‘ game against the Washington Wizards. Speaking on his interactions with Jordan Poole, Green noted that Poole pointed at him after making a shot despite Green only providing help with a contest on that shot. When Poole tried to do the same while Stephen Curry made a shot, Green saw his opportunity to get revenge.

“The first time I catch the ball, Jordan [Poole] is matched up on me. He overzealously is [pushing me]… They called a foul. I just tapped him on the chest, like ‘Ay, it’s cool’. As the game keeps going on, you know how you can see a look in somebody’s eye… He’s talking to me.”

“‘Yeah, weak a**!’. I ain’t paying it no mind, because last year he ain’t say a word. So I’m thinking to myself… he was talking. They run the ball screen, he goes off to the flare, and our man gets whacked. I’m going to make a last-ditch effort and try to get a contest.”

“My man just pointed at me like I was guarding him when I was just trying to get a late contest… So, everybody on my Twitter like ‘Draymond points when Steph hits a three’. It’s actually the same exact thing because then he went and got a contest that wasn’t his contest, and I pointed back at him.”

Green and Poole had spent much of the game taunting each other, going back and forth. And the incident that Green describes is just one of the many moments the two went at it with each other.

Poole clearly feels negative about Draymond, as he forced his teammate to stop talking to him during the game. Green, while he may also have some animosity toward Poole, has spoken positively about him in the media, praising his performance against the Warriors in their recent game, despite the exchanged taunts.

Draymond Green and Jordan Poole clearly haven’t put their differences aside from their time together on the Warriors. Green famously punched Jordan Poole in the face during a Warriors’ practice session.

This move would end up ruining the team’s chemistry, as they would struggle to perform despite being the defending NBA champions. Poole would get traded the following year to the Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul. Poole’s career has taken a nosedive since leaving the Warriors.

Warriors Looking To Return To Prominence

The Golden State Warriors were expected to underperform this season. With the departure of Klay Thompson and no major star signings this year, the Warriors have their weakest roster in years. However, the big signing of Buddy Hield has paid off massively, and the Warriors have been one of the best teams in the NBA.

Stephen Curry is back to his brilliant best this year, as he averages 21.2 points, 7.0 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. Buddy Hield has also been great, averaging 21.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game.

The Warriors currently have a record of 7-1, tied with the Suns and the Thunder for the best record in the Western Conference. If they can continue performing at this level, then they definitely have a chance at competing for the NBA championship, thus extending their dynasty.

Furthermore, the Warriors are expected to make a big trade later in the season, as a big star player might become available. This season could see the Warriors return to their championship ways.
