The Houston Rockets have shot down the Golden State Warriors with a 109-94 Game 2 win, tying the series up at 1-1 after the Warriors beat the Rockets in Game 1.
The Rockets were led by an explosive night from Jalen Green, who put up 38 points (13-25 FG) with six assists and three steals in the win. Alperen Sengun contributed 17 points (6-15 FG) with 16 rebounds and seven assists. Dillon Brooks came up with 16 points (6-12 FG) while Tari Eason impressed with 14 points (6-9 FG) and six rebounds off the bench.
Fans were happy to see this competitive series get tied up.
“I don’t think I’ve ever loved a Houston Rockets team, but here we are,” said one fan impressed with the heart of this Rockets unit.
“Everyone told me the Rockets are too young and inexperienced, but the Warriors are struggling to keep the game within 15 points,” said another fan.
“Warriors could’ve definitely won if Jimmy didn’t get assassinated in the 1st quarter. Rockets just play bullshit basketball. Need Kerr to light up the refs postgame,” said one fan who was unimpressed by the Rockets’ physicality and the officiating.
“This series is just the refs allowing the Rockets to abuse the Warriors, wow,” said a salty Warriors fan about the aggressiveness in this series.
“No excuses for Steph in this series btw… You groupies keep telling me he belongs in the goat debate, and he owns Houston, right? The baby Rockets shouldn’t be a problem then. GS has a whole chip largely due to injuries, so I’m not tryna hear it,” said one Rockets fan who focused on hating on the Warriors and Stephen Curry instead of celebrating his team’s win.
“Rockets out here doing MMA. Call this game, man,” said another fan about the unchecked physicality.
The Warriors were led by Stephen Curry’s tepid 20 points (6-15 FG) with nine assists, getting attacked by Rockets defenders after Jimmy Butler went down with an injury in the first quarter.
Nobody gave Curry the support he needed, with the next highest-scorers being Moses Moody (4-7 FG) and Quinten Post (4-9 FG) with 12 points. Jonathan Kuminga finally received minutes in Butler’s absence, putting up 11 points (4-12 FG) in 26 minutes.
If Butler’s injury is serious and causes him to miss time, the Warriors simply won’t be able to win this series. They’re too defensively adept not to restrict the Warriors to under 100 points almost every game if Curry is the only real scoring option they have to worry about. Butler’s multifaceted play makes him a highly dangerous weapon, with his Playoff history proving the same.
The Rockets aren’t playing perfectly either, so they need to maximize any advantages they have in their favor. If Butler isn’t playing Game 3, Houston has to go all out and seal that win to regain home-court advantage in the series.
