LeBron JamesStephen Curry, and Kevin Durant are the three pillars of modern basketball. The trio got together to frankly talk about their careers in a televised interview to promote the 2024 NBA Christmas Day Games. In that interview, Curry revealed how LeBron serves as a motivational source during offseason workouts.

“Offseason workout, in the back of your mind, “[LeBron James’] face is in your head, thinking about who you’re going to have to beat to get to the ultimate goal.”

LeBron is considered to be one of the most hardworking players in the NBA primarily due to how much attention he pays to his body over the offseason. He’s in Year 22 of his career and still averaging 23.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists this season because he takes care of his body like no other player in NBA history.

Curry is averaging 21.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.6 assists this season while Durant is averaging 27.1 points and 6.7 rebounds. All three players hope to carry their team to the Playoffs, with LeBron’s Lakers having a 16-13 record, Curry’s Warriors sitting 15-13, and Durant’s Suns being 14-14.

We’re seeing both Curry and Durant emulate LeBron’s longevity in the best ways they can, with both players still producing at an elite level at age 36. But it’s also inarguable that all three players are having down years which could just be a result of their advancing age and the overall competitiveness of the modern NBA.

It’s incredible to see the three of them still performing at the level they are, with the league rewarding them by continuing to feature them on Christmas Day. Curry’s Warriors will take on LeBron’s Lakers in a must-win for both franchises while the Suns rematch with the Denver Nuggets after falling to a 27-point loss on December 23.

Kevin Durant Makes It Clear He Dislikes LeBron And Steph While Playing Against Them

Kevin Durant revealed a very interesting aspect of these players’ mentality when facing each other, especially with the friendship they’ve built over years of competition. The 36-year-old Suns forward doesn’t view them as friends on the court and sometimes has to manufacture dislike to truly compete against them.

“It’s a dog-eat-dog world in the NBA. Don’t want nobody to take anything that you got. You have to build up that dislike. Not in a bad way but when you’re on the floor, you can’t be friends. You can’t be cool with these guys. You can’t admire them.”

Durant and LeBron have shared 17 years in the NBA together, with both stars spending 15 years with Curry as rivals. LeBron was the only real rival to both Curry and Durant, who would team up to beat LeBron after the 2016 NBA Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors were cutthroat rivals primarily because of these superstars.

While many consider that move to have killed the rivalry between James and Curry, it did lead to these three players being considered the greats of their era.
