LeBron James is known for his elite court awareness and it would appear he will have to be on his toes during practice sessions too from now on. On media day, Anthony Davis spoke to Spectrum SportsNet on how special it was for him to witness LeBron and Bronny James share the court and he also admitted that Los Angeles Lakers players want the son to dunk on the father.

Allie Clifton: “Obviously you guys have some history amongst this team with the first father-son duo. I love what you said, when you called Bron on draft night and you said, “I don’t want to talk to you.’ What has that whole thing been like? And obviously, I think you’re probably someone that knows Bronny or Bron and Bronny better than anyone around this organization.”

Anthony Davis: “I know it was a great experience for them. Great moment for them when he heard his name called to the Lakers. And instantly it was a great moment for me, just being around the family so much that I’ve been. And calling him to say, he answered ‘Oh what’s up AD?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t want to talk to you, I want to talk to my new teammate. It’s over for you now. You getting old, man. I’mma talk to Bronny.’ So, it’s been a great experience, though. Great moment to actually be a part of it and kind of witness that live. Seeing them work together, on the floor together working out, trash talking, like it’s fun. Everybody was always wondering like, ‘How is it going to be?’ But it’s just like two other guys in the gym playing basketball.”

James Worthy: “He’s playing with his dad and he’s getting to play with a bunch of uncles.”

Anthony Davis: “Right.”

Mike Bresnahan: “Hey, we asked Bronny without LeBron knowing. You guys want him to dunk on Bron at some point.”

Anthony Davis: “Oh, for sure.”

Mike Bresnahan: “You setting something up.”

Anthony Davis: “For sure. He has to and we got cameras all around, so we gonna catch it.”

LeBron will never hear the end of it if Bronny dunks on him. I think the 19-year-old will get him at some point, with some help from his new teammates, and I just hope we get the footage of it. Davis will certainly try his best to ensure that Bronny pulls it off.

There has been a lot of talk about how special it is going to be for LeBron and Bronny to share the court together, but it should be quite the experience for Davis to be out there with them too. The nine-time All-Star has been LeBron’s teammate since 2019 and appears to have gotten very close to the whole family over the years.

We might get to see LeBron, Bronny, and Davis share the court together soon enough, as the Lakers play their first preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 4. While Bronny should feature in that contest, it’s unclear if the two superstars will or not. LeBron and Davis played for Team USA at the Olympics and I don’t expect them to feature a lot during preseason.
