LeBron James’ reaction to Austin Reaves’ highlight-reel alley-oop has gone viral — and it’s a reminder that even at 40 years old, LeBron is still providing must-see moments both on and off the court.

In the Los Angeles Lakers’ 124-108 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, Reaves ignited the crowd with a ridiculous behind-the-back move in transition before lobbing the ball to LeBron, who soared through the lane for a powerful one-handed dunk. The play, which looked straight out of a video game, immediately became one of the most talked-about highlights of the night.

But it wasn’t just the play itself that had fans buzzing — it was LeBron’s hilarious postgame reaction. As Reaves was speaking to the media about the pass, LeBron called out from the background:

“That dumbass lob set me back three days.”

The comment sent reporters and Reaves into laughter, adding a touch of comedy to what was already a dominant Lakers win.

“I told him on the bench I wish I played with him 10 years ago because I would’ve thrown the craziest lobs. I would have thrown it every possession.”

Even with the playful jab, it’s clear that James appreciated the connection. The two have developed undeniable chemistry on the court, and Reaves’ emergence has been one of the biggest bright spots of the Lakers’ season.

The 26-year-old guard poured in 30 points on 8-of-13 shooting with six three-pointers and seven assists, continuing a hot streak that has seen him become the first Laker in franchise history to hit 15 threes over a two-game stretch.

LeBron, meanwhile, dropped 27 points and eight assists in the win, playing just 30 minutes but still giving fans a vintage dunk to remember.

What makes it even more remarkable is that this game marked only the fifth time in his 22-year career that James finished without recording a single rebound — a rare statistical quirk that went largely unnoticed thanks to his offensive efficiency and viral moment.

Luka Doncic led all scorers with 35 points, helping the Lakers bounce back from a tough loss to the Warriors a night earlier. The trio of Doncic, Reaves, and James combined for 92 points, showing why Los Angeles remains one of the most dangerous offensive units in the West when all three are locked in.

Despite missing key players like Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum, the Pelicans gave the Lakers a brief early scare, jumping out to a first-quarter lead behind Jose Alvarado’s 18-point outburst.

But Los Angeles clamped down defensively and outscored New Orleans in each of the final three quarters to secure their 47th win of the season — maintaining their hold on the West’s No. 3 seed.

While the Lakers’ playoff seeding remains in flux, one thing is certain: with LeBron James, Austin Reaves, and Luka Doncic clicking, they have the firepower to make a serious run. And as long as Reaves keeps throwing “dumbass lobs,” the ride will be as entertaining as it is effective.
