Georges Niang had some words for Quentin Grimes during the Atlanta Hawks‘ game against the Philadelphia 76ers. As Grimes went to the free-throw line during the third quarter, Niang chimed in with some trash-talk, telling Grimes that things would be different for him if the 76ers had Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey available to play.
“If Joel was here, your a** would be in the corner. Joel here, you’re in the corner. Tyrese [Maxey] here, you’re in the corner.”

Niang and the Hawks would get the last laugh, putting up 20 points (6-9 FG), three rebounds, two assists, and one steal, as they vanquished the depleted 76ers 132-119. Grimes did play well despite the loss, putting up 26 points (7-18 FG), five rebounds, six assists, and one steal.
Niang might be going at Grimes for his great run of form in recent weeks. In the last 10 games, Grimes has averaged 27.8 points, 5.2 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game while shooting 49.7% from the field, 39.3% from beyond the arc, and 77.8% from the free-throw line.
Grimes was recently traded from the Mavericks to the 76ers, which was yet another decision in a long list of terrible ones from Mavs GM Nico Harrison. His performances with the 76ers have proven Harrison wrong yet again, as Grimes has really taken his game to another level since being traded.
While the 76ers are far from a good team right now, Grimes has been a highlight for them this season. However, they may not have him for long, as the shooting guard becomes a free agent this summer. Grimes will attract a lot of offers in the open market, as several teams will look at his run of performances over this stretch and look to bring him in to strengthen their squad.
