De’Aaron Fox Trade Market Is Hot; Kings Have Received Over A Dozen Offers

The news of Sacramento Kings guard De'Aaron Fox being available for trade has made him the hottest property on the market right now.

The Sacramento Kings are making a bold move and fielding trade offers for De’Aaron Fox ahead of his 2026 contract expiry, with Fox’s representatives making it clear that the guard will look for a new team that summer. Instead of losing Fox for no assets, it’s been reported that the Kings will actively listen to offers for the 27-year-old guard to get a solid return.

Shams Charania of ESPN has revealed that Fox’s availability on the market has led to the Kings receiving over a dozen trade offers and inquiries for the star, even though the San Antonio Spurs seem to be his preferred destination.

“The Kings have received dozens of phone calls and trade offers in the last 30 hours. Here is the most important thing to know. The San Antonio Spurs are De’Aaron Fox’s targetted and preferred destination. They are among the interested teams in Fox.”

“He has a massive market right now, he’s jumped to the top of the trade landscape ahead of the deadline. He’s in the prime of his career and is a max contract player. These deals don’t happen overnight, so the Kings have to balance potentially finding the best offer for him right now when he has a year-and-a-half left before his deal expires or the inevitability of a trade in the offseason.”

Fox is averaging 25.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.2 assists this season, with his quality as a starting point guard established around the NBA. Whatever team acquires him will have to push for contention due to his caliber, but they’ll also have to fork out some premium assets in the process.

The Kings’ guard quashed the rumors that he directly asked for a trade.

“In this league, I expect the unexpected. I think crazier things have happened.”

“No,” he said when asked if he asked for a trade, per Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee. “You would know if I did… That’s their decision to make. I can’t tell them not to listen to offers or I can’t tell them to listen to offers.”

If Fox plans on leaving the franchise in 2026 anyway, it makes sense for the Kings to look for offers now instead of being forced to trade him for a much worse value next season when his contract expires.

The Kings reportedly are looking for win-now players as well as draft assets, making the cost for a Fox trade pretty high. Given his target destination is the Spurs who have the cap space to sign Fox regardless in 2026, it’ll be hard for them to give up win-now players and assets for an asking price that is so expensive.

The Spurs have the assets to make that deal happen, but they might be hesitant to give up multiple first-round picks along with any of their core players, such as Devin Vassell, Stephon Castle, or Jeremy Sochan. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out and whether the Kings will hold onto Fox until the summer.
