The San Antonio Spurs haven’t had a lot of success in recent years, but their fan base isn’t feeling too down about that. According to Vegas Insider, the Spurs fan base is the least negative in the NBA, with only 21.82% of comments being negative, and Victor Wembanyama had a hilarious reaction to their findings.

“When I’m in a positive comment competition and my opponent is a Spurs fan.”

Here is a look at the full list.

Negative fan base rankings.

Wembanyama is the biggest reason why Spurs fans are so optimistic despite not making the playoffs for six seasons. The 21-year-old is a generational talent and has already become a force in the NBA.

Wembanyama averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3.8 blocks per game for the Spurs in 2024-25. He finished runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year as a rookie and looked set to win the award as a sophomore. It wasn’t to be, though, as he was ruled out of the season during the All-Star break due to deep vein thrombosis.

With Wembanyama only playing 46 games, the Spurs finished the 2024-25 season with a 34-48 record. You’d reckon they’d have had a shot at making the playoffs via the play-in tournament if he had been healthy, but his missing time worked out in their favor, too.

The Spurs ended up getting the second pick in the 2025 NBA Draft in the lottery. They are expected to select promising guard Dylan Harper with the pick.

Harper would join a backcourt that consists of Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox. The Spurs had selected Castle with the fourth pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, and he went on to win Rookie of the Year. This was on the back of Wembanyama winning the award in 2024, and the future is just so bright in San Antonio.

The Spurs’ trading for Fox, the 2023 Clutch Player of the Year, back in February, indicated they don’t necessarily just want to wait for a couple of years to get good. They want to try to win now, and it appears they had thoughts about taking an even bigger swing at the deadline.

NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the Spurs and Kevin Durant had mutual interest in a partnership at the deadline.

“They have a ton of assets. They have tradeable contracts, they have the No. 2 pick, they have No. 14 pick in this year’s draft, they have a bunch of tradeable picks as well moving forward, they have all their picks,” said Shams Charania on the Pat McAfee Show. “Whether it’s a player like Giannis Antetokounmpo, or I think Kevin Durant is another guy. They had mutual interest at the deadline. I think they’re gonna be looking very actively to see, is there a wing player we can bring in that could take us over the top?”

If the Spurs do end up getting Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo, they might create some separation on that ranking. Their fans would be over the moon.

Getting back to that ranking, it is not the least bit surprising to see the Dallas Mavericks fan base at the top. Mavericks fans have been up in arms about Luka Doncic being traded, and even getting the first pick in this upcoming draft hasn’t done much to ease their pain.
