Losing a superstar is never easy in the NBA, but the Brooklyn Nets are having an easier time than most absorbing the reality of their current situation.

With Kyrie Irving gone, Ben Simmons still a zero on the court, and Kevin Durant going M.I.A. amid all the chaos, things haven’t been pretty for Brooklyn this season.

But in the aftermath of the Kyrie Irving trade, they can find some comfort in welcoming back one of their own.

Spencer Dinwiddie, who spent the past year and a half in Dallas, was recently sent back to the Nets as part of the Irving deal, and Spencer has been all smiles ever since.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he even joked that his arrival helped the Nets where they needed it most.

“We may not be the best trade package but we are the best looking. The Nets needed help in that department,” said Dinwiddie.

It’s all good vibes in Brooklyn, which must be a welcome change for Nets fans considering all the heat they’ve had to endure over the years.

Regarding his future in Brooklyn, Spencer says he’s pretty confident he’ll be staying put for a while.

“I assume I’m here. I plan to be here. I don’t think we’d be having this press conference if they weren’t. This would be a lot of trouble just to ship me off in six hours. Then we all look crazy. You all wasted your time. I wasted my time.”

Dinwiddie is no Kyrie Irving, but he’s a bucket-getter who should replace at least some of what #11 was able to provide. Together with Dorian-Finney Smith, the Nets got a decent return for their disgruntled and unreliable star.

Can The Nets Contend For A Championship As Currently Constructed?

While the Nets are now down two superstars, they have significantly built up their supporting cast, which now includes a pair of solid two-way players. They also have Kevin Durant, who is set to return from injury soon (given he wants to see this season through with the Nets).

Despite the circumstances, the Nets have reasons to feel good about where they stand and how they’ve responded in the face of total collapse.

Now, the plan is to move forward with the guys they do have and hope that it’s enough to make some noise in the Eastern Conference.
