It has been an amazing run for Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic. Over the past 2+ seasons, he’s won two MVPs and has broken just about every statistical metric there is in the game today.

Somehow, in this current campaign, Jokic is outperforming himself. Averaging 25 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 10 assists per game on 63.1% shooting, he’s having one of his best seasons yet, and the Nuggets are finding a lot of success.

And while the MVP voters may be swayed by his impressive triple-double stat line, it’s apparently a milestone that the Joker cares nothing about.

In a recent press conference, after Jokic was informed of his season averages, he brushed it off with a sarcastic “ooo” before letting his face rest into a stone-cold expression.

Jokic is a team-first player who prioritizes wins over anything else. He’s said this many times over his career so far, even despite being a 2x MVP winner. In fact, after winning his second straight MVP, he even (jokingly) said he didn’t want to win them anymore.

Of course, voters should give the award to the most deserving player, regardless of how much value they actually hold in the award itself. This season, Jokic has been arguably better than he’s ever been, and that automatically puts him near the top of the MVP ballot.

For him to pull it off and win his third straight, however, the Nuggets will have to maintain their position at the top of the standings.

Are The Nuggets The Favorites To Win The West?

Thanks to big performances from guys like Michael Porter Jr., Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon, Denver appears to have some legitimate fire-power around Nikola Jokic for the first time in years.

So far, they have nothing but an impressive regular-season record to show for it, but that could change this summer.

If the Nuggets make a move before the deadline, or even if they don’t, Jokic has what he needs to win, and it’s only a matter of time before he takes his team on a run when it matters the most.

No doubt, that’s the outcome Jokic is aiming for. Everything else, including another MVP trophy, is just icing on the cake for him.
